Baptism and 3 Months

We had a very eventful Labor Day weekend. Eleanor got baptized, and we had both sets of family in town. It was so nice to have everyone here -- E got to meet all of her cousins this weekend, and I got to meet my new nephew. Just wish we could all get together more often.

2 Months

Sorry for the delinquency in blogging...but here is the reason I've been a little MIA:

Stats:

Head - 15.25 in - 46%
Height - 23.25 in - 81%
Weight - 11 lb 1.3 oz - 59%

We have somewhat started to get into a routine (depending on your definition of routine), and Eleanor and I venture out either on a walk or out to run errands about every day. We have lots of tummy time and gym time, and E is smiling and starting to make all sorts of noises. She loves bath time but absolutely HATES to be burped. In the last few days she has started to recognize Reggie and turns to him when he speaks for her. She's in her crib at night, but only sleeps for about 4 hours straight at this point.

In other news, I am running again (very slowly, but I think it still qualifies as running), and Derek is still getting in his much-needed golf time.

2 and a Half Weeks and Counting

We are officially in the homestretch with only 2 and a half weeks until my due date! Here is a picture of me from earlier this week at 37 weeks. There will likely be no more picture updates for two reasons: (i) I don't think my clothes are going to fit after this week; and (ii) yesterday, some guy yelled at me from his car, asking whether I was having twins, and when I responded "no," he simply said "wow."



Derek and I drove down to Myrtle Beach a few weeks ago for a last little get-away before the baby arrives. We brought Reggie with us since he had never been to the beach. We had an awesome time. Reggie got to go on walks and play frisbee on the beach everyday, and was by far the most popular dog at our hotel. I got to lay around at the pool and get a few massages, and Derek played a few rounds of golf -- all in all, a great weekend.

I'm a little behind on the updates, so I will attempt to cram everything into this post. First we finally got our new kitchen countertops and sink installed. We've been wanting to do this since the first day we moved in. We did the whole thing in stages...first taking down the old wallpaper, painting the walls and cabinets, and then finally, the countertops.

We also got a new camera, which I've decide is smarter that both Derek and me. Seriously, I need a personal instructor to use this thing, but it does take awesome pictures. Reggie has been helping me practice with it.

33 weeks



We're off to the beach next weekend for our last vacation sans child. Reggie is looking forward to playing frisbee on the sand.

March Madness

We have been pretty busy here the last few weeks. My mom came to visit during her spring break, and per usual, she did a TON of stuff to help out. I don't think it's possible for her to come without sewing something new and cooking at least two pies. So, this visit included sewing curtains for the baby's room, which turned out perfectly (and cost half the price). She also made a cherry pie, and my new favorite, a butterscotch pie (seriously, this thing is amazing). We had a lot of fun, and Reggie, as always, was sad to see her go.

Later that week, Derek and I headed to the Verizon Center in D.C. to watch the first round of the NCAA tournament. Derek is a huge UConn fan, so we got to see them blow out Bucknell, and then we watched the first half of the Missouri/Cincinnati game. It was pretty awesome. The only issue is that we somehow got seats in the middle of a ton of Bucknell students (like shirts off, painted chest, holding posters kind of fans). It was okay though, because they certainly quieted down during the second half.

Aside from that, we've just been doing more house stuff -- yard work, organizing, etc., and watching a ridiculous amount of basketball. Derek painted the baby's room this weekend. Here is a sneak peek with the new curtains.





I will spare you the picture of me from 28 weeks. I chose to wear a horizontally striped shirt, and it was a very bad decision.

Happenings

A few weekends ago we headed out to Ikea to buy some shelves and other storage stuff so that we have a place to put all of the new baby stuff. We got there early so that we could have breakfast. Look at all of the stuff we got for under $10 (I don't know how those Swedes do it).



Derek spent the next 8 hours assembling furniture.

Last weekend, I headed to Dallas to see my family, which, of course, involved a trip to Chuy's. My mom and friends were nice enough to throw me a baby shower while I was in town. The shower was perfect. We got a lot of goodies and everyone brought a children's book, which was my favorite part.











The funniest sight was packing all of the stuff into a suitcase to get it back to DC. It took some serious spacial reasoning, but we were successful.

This weekend was pretty lazy. We did a little work around the house, bought some baby stuff, and headed into Old Town with Reggie to take a walk by the water.

Here is the latest picture. I had a doctor's appointment on Friday, and apparently I am measuring bigger than I am supposed to be (which is a great self-esteem booster and not at all related to the amount of food I consumed at Ikea).


26.5 weeks

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

So apparently I am meeting my goal of updating the blog once a year. Lots has happened since the last update, but I will not torture you with specific details. Here is the run-down: trip to Dallas for a friend's wedding, vacation to Hawaii (kind of wish we had just stayed there permanently), Derek's parents came to visit, my mom came to visit, trip to Austin for a friend's wedding, my dad came to visit and ran the Marine Corps Marathon, my parents came for Thanksgiving, and we drove to North Dakota for Christmas. Basically, we did a LOT of traveling!

But, there is one more very big update coming around June 16, 2011 -- Reggie is going to be a big brother! We are very excited and currently working on finishing as much of the house projects we can before June. Things have been going good and after I got through the first three and a half months, I've been feeling pretty good. We don't know if Little Prosser is a boy or girl. The first time we went to find out, the doctor's office was closed thanks to a nice snowstorm. The next time we went of find out, he/she was either being very stubborn (I can't imagine where that came from) or very modest -- legs closed with hands in between the legs, so the technician couldn't tell. We are hoping to go back for another one to find out -- otherwise, we will have to find out the old fashioned way.

We (and by "we," I really mean Derek) has continued on with his cooking streak. We celebrated Valentine's Day early this weekend and made grilled NY strips, steamed lobster, roasted zucchini with parmesan and herb d'provence, and parmesan couscous. To finish off the meal, we enjoyed a few slices of an Oreo Blizzard Ice Cream cake (having a DQ less than 1 mile from our house does not bode well with being pregnant).
